"Overground" - live art jam

A Live Arts what ? !*.....

"Overground", Septmber 4th, is a is a one day live arts event held at the Green Backyard.
We aim to have loads of artists painting live and collabotating, there will be a load of workshops,
including digital arts, VJ'ing, printing, t-shirt printing and some other bits 'n' pieces, artists of all disciplines are
welcome, and we'd love to see groups of people jamming together mashing up ideas and styles and sharing techniques
and skills  - we think that would be kinda cool.

Sounds cool, how'd I get a space?

There is limited space at the GreenBackyard, and we want to make sure everyone gets a good spot so if you
need a space then please register and we’ll secure your space. We will be putting up more panels for painters,
and there will be a tent and power supply for digital arts. also please bring along your sketch books and such

it's not  just 2D stuff though, there will be under cover space if you want to do 3D work, get in touch and we'll make the
arrangements.

** To secure your spot please send an email to info@overgroundarts.org **

Anything else?

yeah, we also need some help in the couple of days before to set the backyard up, (putting up tents and moving stuff,
and on the day too,  flyering in town and such)

There will be some real ale and cider provide by Charters, and awesome tunes to set the vibes courtesy of  Day Glo Joe, DJ Urb and Zed from Eclectic Ballroom.
Event starts at 11am and finishes about 7:30pm.

everyone is welcome and it is children friendly
bring some lunch if you are coming along for the whole day and cross fingers for good weather.

We will need as many people as possible to come down and get creative, or just to watch and enjoy the atmosphere,
the more people there are the better the event so please tell anyone who you think might be interested.

there is parking opposite the Green Backyard and a bus stop right outside.

any questions, ideas or if you would like to volunteer please email  info@overgroundarts.org

This is the first event, we will be putting another on next summer,
however we've only had a few weeks to put this together so all help n support will be massively appriciated!

THE GREEN BACKYARD
Rat Tank
 September 4th
11am to 6pm

- food, drinks and music till approx. 9pm

Overground is a day of live art events and collaboration  involving experiments that will hopefully create
some fantastic new work.
We want to see what might happen if graff artists were to work with say a textile artist on a piece.
There will be VJ's, workshops, chances for unusual collaborations, skill sharing, food, t-shirt printing, cartooning, graffiti, photography, doodling, sculpture and anything else that you wanna bring along.

If you do want to get involved and come along and paint or do your thang, and try out something new then please get in touch, or turn up at the Green Backyard, Peterborough on the day.
This event is organised by the Blok Collective.

Poet vs. Artist / Artist vs. Poet..........

Poet vs. Artist / Artist vs. Poet..........
either way you look at it it went very well indeed....
with everyone finishing their work on time, even myself.

We had a great location nestled in amongst the other stalls and with people traffic cutting through most sides,
and as we were open on all sides it seemed to make it less threatening and also more obvious as to what we were doing there and seemed to open up the eyeline to other stall holders etc which it on reflection made it more comfortable.

we were also next to the seven seated circular cycle, whcih was freekin' awesome.

I think with events like this one people are often wary as they are not sure if they are going to be sold something, asked to sign up or take information away, we of course were just there to show people the work, eye candy for the visitors, no leaflets or gubbins just pretty and bizarre artwork and their accompnaying poems  to view.......

the atmosphere was good all day, across the whole site, which was especially useful as the weather was so damn bad.....a pretty constant deluge of rainwater.

all the artwork looked great, and it's hard to have a favourite (especialy if your own work is included!)
but I think one of my favs was Brendan Boyles sculpture for hannah Wilton's poem. I only got to see it on the morning we were setting up and it was a full scale sculpture of a mother earth being tortured and abused by some of man's activity.....very powerful image.

I will post photos up in the next few days...if you have any photos from the event then please send them to us.

A big Thank You must go to PECT for letting us get the artwork into the festival, we all had a lot of fun doing this and it is always good to get our art into the otherwise beige city centre.

Artist vs. Poet........

At The Old Still

We have asked 13 peterborough poets to work with 13 Muddy Artists as  part of the
Peterborough Green Festival.

The poets have been asked to come up with a piece on the festival theme which this year is "Do One Thing",

the teams will then meet and develop this idea and the artists will turn the poem into a visual piece (or pieces)

The teams will not know who they are working with until the night of March 29th.

the final pieces will then be put up in the city centre on May 29th as part of the launch day,
making and art-poetry trail in the city.
